A visually engaging animated film for the Open University that brings the hidden impact of fast fashion to life, transforming complex environmental issues into an accessible and compelling story.
Challenge
The Open University needed a film that could help audiences understand the environmental and social impact of fast fashion in a way that was engaging, informative and easy to grasp. The challenge was to distil a complex subject – spanning consumer behaviour, global supply chains and sustainability – into a story that would educate without overwhelming, encouraging viewers to think differently about the clothes they buy.
Solution
Using a bold and modern colour, and a playful illustration style, we created a design-led animated film that transformed research and data into a clear visual narrative. Using expressive illustration, dynamic motion and carefully considered transitions, we created a rich visual language that guided viewers through the lifecycle of a garment, balancing information with personality and warmth. Every creative decision was focused on making a complex topic feel relatable, memorable and accessible to a broad audience.
Result
The finished film became a powerful educational resource for The Open University, helping to communicate the hidden consequences of fast fashion through engaging visual storytelling. By combining thoughtful design with clear narrative direction, the project demonstrated how animation can simplify complex ideas, spark curiosity and inspire audiences to make more informed choices about the world around them.
